Chen Wang is an Associate Professor at the School of Design, Shanghai University of Engineering Science, China. He serves as a Board Member of the International Chinese Association of Computer Human Interaction (ICACHI) and Chair of its Youth Committee. He earned his Ph.D. in Human–Computer Interaction from Kochi University of Technology, Japan, under the supervision of Professor Xiangshi Ren.
His research focuses on Human-Engaged Computing (HEC) and the philosophical foundations of Human–Computer Interaction. Over the past decade, he has worked closely with Professor Ren to advance HEC through academic publications, books, and the International Workshops on Human-Engaged Computing (IWHEC). Their latest book, Human-Engaged Computing, was published in May 2026 by Chapman & Hall/CRC, part of the Informa Group. His current work explores how HEC’s integrative theoretical framework can inform the design of a next-generation operating-system-level user interface architecture, with the aim of translating this design vision into a practical product.
