Dr. Yan joined Zai Lab Pharmaceutical in September 2015 and currently serves as the Chief Operating Officer of Global Research and Development.

Before joining Zai Lab, Dr. Yan served as the head of Covance's early R&D center in Shanghai, responsible for its China business; From 2009 to 2012, served as the head of drug safety evaluation and project management at Hutchison Whampoa Pharmaceuticals. Previously, he accumulated rich experience at Pfizer in the United States and participated in IND and NDA applications for multiple candidate drugs, possessing experience in collaborating with health registration agencies in multiple countries.
